About Us

Our Story

At Papermill Saunas West Wales, we believe in the power of nature to heal, restore, and reconnect. Our love for the Welsh landscape and its calming rhythm inspired us to create a space where wellness meets the wild—in the form of traditional wood-fired saunas and hot tubs.

Located at Papermill Fishery in Swansea, our peaceful riverside setting offers the perfect backdrop to slow down, switch off, and soak up the moment. Whether you’re warming through in the sauna or easing into the gentle heat of a hot tub, every visit is designed to help you relax and feel at home in nature.

Our wood-fired experiences are crafted with care, combining traditional methods with a modern, luxurious touch. And just like the kingfisher that inspired our name—a quiet, graceful presence on the river—you’re invited to pause, breathe, and let the stillness do its work.

How we got started.

Creating Papermill Saunas was as much a labour of love as it was a skilled craft. We set out to build something that felt rooted in West Wales—something that honoured the land, embraced tradition, and offered people a true escape. What began as an idea for a wood-fired sauna soon grew to include hot tubs too, giving guests more ways to unwind and connect with nature.

Using locally sourced wood and sustainable materials, every detail has been hand-built with care. The saunas and tubs are both fired the old-fashioned way—by wood—staying true to traditional methods that bring warmth, comfort, and a real sense of calm. These photos show the process: from raw timber and first fix to fire-ready and finished.

This wasn’t just about building structures. It was about creating a sanctuary. A quiet place beside the water where people can breathe deeper, slow down, and feel a little more at ease. Every plank, pipe, and pebble reflects our commitment to quality, community, and the simple joy of being outdoors in Wales.

As we say here in Wales

Gwna da i bawb a ddaw” (Do good to everyone who comes). And that’s our promise to you.
